Purpose and Summary

Purpose: Instruct Christians about the history, challenges, and dangers of English Bible translations. Participants should complete the class with a better understanding of the translation process, the available English Bible translations (including their pros and cons), and prevalent translation philosophies.

Summary: During the class, we will review the history of Bible translations, focusing on English-language translations. We will identify the most popular translation approaches, their benefits and shortcomings, and their application in English translations.
